Biography

Len Gelman, PhD, Dr. of Sciences (Habilitation), is Chair in Signal Processing and Condition Monitoring and Director of the Centre for Efficiency and Performance Engineering at the University of Huddersfield. Prior to joining in 2017, he was Professor and Chair in Vibro-Acoustical Monitoring at Cranfield University, where he led pioneering research in condition monitoring technologies applied to aircraft engines, turbines, and other complex systems. He has managed numerous international and UK-funded research projects, collaborated extensively with industry (including Rolls-Royce, Shell, Caterpillar), and received multiple awards for innovation, including the Rolls-Royce Engineering Award and COMADIT Prize. A prolific author with over 250 publications, 17 patents, and 11 co-edited books, he holds fellowships in leading engineering institutions and serves in key editorial and leadership roles in international condition monitoring societies and conferences.
