Biography

Nilgün Baydoğan is a full Professor at the Energy Institute, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), with a PhD in Nuclear Energy from ITU and a BSc in Physics from Istanbul University. Her research focuses on the interaction of ionizing radiation with advanced materials, including radiation shielding, thin-film solar cells, flexible polymer nanocomposites, and self-healing nanocomposite coatings. She has led national and international projects on radiation protection, polymer nanocomposites, and optoelectronic devices, often integrating non-destructive testing techniques such as gamma- and X-ray radiography. A prolific author, Baydoğan has published extensively (179 publications) and serves on editorial boards in materials science and nuclear engineering. Her interdisciplinary expertise spans applications in aerospace, environmental protection, energy systems, and radiation-based enhancement of material performance.
